Best Pitcher Honor Goes to van der Meijden of Forest City

The Forest City Warriors have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making.
It's Yan van der Meijden, this year's USSL Triple A Outstanding Pitcher Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.

van der Meijden compiled a 12-3 record in 25 starts, tallied 119 strikeouts in 153.1 innings and recorded a 2.64 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .208 batting average against him.

He received 10 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Ralph Minor of the Alloway Halberds finished second in voting, while Ales Kretky of the Scranton Supernovas finished third.
