Shortall Hitless, Stopped by Bronze Sox
Sunday, September 2nd, 2040
Rod Shortall, center fielder for the Sacramento Redlegs, gave it a good try, but his time chasing history came to an end when he went hitless in 3 tries against the Texas Bronze Sox today. Not only did the Bronze Sox break his 21-game hitting streak, they also beat Sacramento by the score of 14-13.
"Now that the streak has ended, I can admit I'll breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat," Shortall said, speaking with the media after the game. "It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate."
So far on the season Shortall is hitting .267 with 7 home runs, 43 RBIs and 70 runs scored. He has 95 hits and played in 92 games.
