Star of the Week Honored in PAAA Monday, August 27th, 2040 So far in his young career, Lorenzo Varela has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the USPL Triple A in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 25-year-old Jersey City Tritons left fielder hit at a torrid .650 clip as he collected 13 hits in 20 at-bats, 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and 8 runs scored. For the year Varela is batting .387 with 60 hits and 6 home runs. He has scored 40 times and driven in 32. |
