Cottongame Goes 5-for-6
Thursday, August 2nd, 2040
5 hits in a game is generally considered a noteworthy achievement, but for Braxton Cottongame, it felt rather hollow.
The 23-year-old went 5-for-6 at the plate at Brass Field today, but his Santa Barbara Golden Cranes fell to the Baton Rouge Brass, 8-7.
"It's hard to get too excited," the first baseman told BNN following the game. "After a game like this, everyone's quiet and they just want to go home."
Braxton Cottongame hit a two-run home run off Mike Donovan in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, singled in the 9th and hit a solo-shot off Rainer Polonius in the 11th.
This year Cottongame has hit 19 home runs and posted a .321 batting average.
