Timber Hawks End Ortíz's Streak
Monday, May 28th, 2040
Hartford right fielder Jorge Ortíz came into today's game against the Augusta Timber Hawks on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Timber Hawks did their jobs well, beating the Hartford Pride 5-1 and holding Ortíz hitless to snap his 20-game hitting streak. The 27-year-old right fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-4, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Jorge did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Pride manager Terry Stokes. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 20 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
For the season Ortíz has hit .356 with 2 home runs and 16 RBIs. He has played in 21 games and scored 11 times.
