Yang Shows Off, Hits for Cycle
Saturday, August 25th, 2040
Getting 4 hits in a game is no easy feat, but doing it to hit for the cycle is even more rare.
You-liang Yang of the Caldwell Chiefs pulled it off today at Pipers Ballpark, going 4-for-5 against the Idaho Falls Chukars. His batting escapades sparked the Chiefs to a 9-1 victory.
Yang tallied 3 runs and drove in 1 during the game. Hitting for the cycle is particularly rare because of the different skills required - enough power for a home run, enough speed for a triple and enough patience at the plate to see at least four hittable balls.
"It just happened," Yang said to reporters after the win. "Must have been fate or something, I wasn't expecting it. Heck, I wasn't even really trying for it."
You-liang Yang hit a solo-shot off David Weber in the 1st, tripled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
In 87 games this year Yang has posted a .332 average and put up these numbers: 19 home runs, 66 RBIs and 63 runs scored.
