The Philadelphia 1776 BC scored a 3-2 win versus the Vancouver Grey Wolves at Wolf Den in Vancouver. Philadelphia 1776 pitcher Sergio Gómez nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Gómez, the winner, moves to 9-5. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks. Pedro Huerta finished the game for Philadelphia 1776 and earned his 21st save.
Luis Rodríguez had a big 2-run single for the BC in the top of the fifth inning. With Philadelphia 1776 trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a curveball from Ángel Flores and stroked the single to right. It was his 93rd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the BC ahead, 2-1.
"We played hard and won," said Gómez. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
The Grey Wolves, now 31-60, have lost 4 straight.
