The San Mateo Dirty Reds faced a tough opponent in Ft. Worth pitcher Gustavo Tobías, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Cattle Pen by a final score of 6-5. Tobías went 7 innings and allowed no earned runs. San Mateo reliever Barney Starr was the winner. His record is now 5-2. The losing pitcher was Pedro Valdéz. Matt Digby nailed down his 3rd save.

San Mateo took a 6-5 lead on Richard Edwards's 64th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Edwards hit in the top of the tenth, left Ft. Worth pitcher Pedro Valdéz shaking his head.

"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Dean Ashley.

San Mateo bumps their record to 49-33 with the win.
