Cattlemen Reel Off Another Win
|
The Ft. Worth Cattlemen downed the Philadelphia 1776 BC, 10-6, at Ben Franklin Memorial Coliseum. The Cattlemen were led by Derek Bangert, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Armando Romano, the winner, improved to 10-3. He held the BC to 1 earned run on 4 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. The winning streak has now reached 12 games for Ft. Worth.
Bangert contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Ft. Worth in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Bangert took a changeup from Panda Montana and stroked the home run to left. His 18th home run of the season allowed the Cattlemen to leap in front, 2-1.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Ft. Worth skipper Scott Thompson.
