Burton Delivers Walk-Off Win for Dirty Reds
|
The San Mateo Dirty Reds took Philadelphia 1776 pitcher Sergio Gómez's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Lang Park. The final score had San Mateo getting past the BC, 4-3. Gómez went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs, striking out 2. San Mateo reliever Urs Ehles picked up the win, upping his record to 6-0. Pedro Huerta took the loss. After today's action, San Mateo sits at 42-30, while Philadelphia 1776 falls to 29-43.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 3-3, right fielder Tom Burton won it for San Mateo. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Burton hit a 1-0 fastball from Pedro Huerta for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 4-3 win.
"This place went bonkers at the end," Burton said.
