Borges Handcuffs Rails, Miners Seize 2-0 Advantage in R1
|
The Marquette Miners got an exceptional performance from starter Greg Borges, who silenced the Richland offense en route to a 5-0 shutout win in Game 2 of the 3L AA Championship today. The Rails could never get a bead on the right-handed Borges, who threw 8 innings of shutout ball to earn player of the game honors. The Miners now hold a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 series.
Borges allowed no runs over 8 innings. He also racked up 10 strikeouts.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Borges. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
The next game is scheduled for Monday in Richland. Slated to start are Carl Cooper for the Marquette Miners and Zhong-yi Huang for the the Richland Rails.
