PL AAA Championship Game 1 Victory for Slooters and Bakersfield
When he got to Bakersfield, Peer Slooters was just worrying about staying on the roster. Today, he was starring in the PL AAA Championship.

The 22-year-old rookie right-hander shut out the visiting Alaskan Humpbacks 1-0 in a remarkable performance at Jerome Grounds today. With the win, the Nobles took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 PL AAA Championship.

In his 84-pitch effort, Slooters allowed no earned runs on 1 hit over 7 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 9.

"Runs were at a premium," said Bakersfield manager Zach King.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow in Bakersfield. Slated to start are Ricardo Martínez for the Alaskan Humpbacks and Carlos Vargas for the the Bakersfield Nobles.
