Baby Lakers Even With Harbor Whales After Home Win
|
The Bompton Baby Lakers and the Greenport Harbor Whales will take the 3L R Championship to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Baby Lakers beat the Harbor Whales 2-1 at Field of the Browns to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Bompton right-hander Urs Bilderbeek was named player of the game in the win after he threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball.
Bompton grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth. With no one out and the bases empty, Donnie Haggard delivered a solo home run, to make it 2-1 in favor of the Baby Lakers.
"It feels a lot better to be tied than to be behind, even if it is only one game," Bompton manager Pat Carrasco said.
The next game is scheduled for Saturday at Ballpark of Robbins in Greenport. The scheduled starters for the game are Jason Cormack for Bompton and Zack Ford for Greenport.
