Bompton Breaks Through for First Win in 3L R Championship; Now Trails 2-1
|
The Bompton Baby Lakers have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Greenport Harbor Whales, winning 3-2 at Field of the Browns today. Baby Lakers left-hander Zhao-hui Teng was named player of the game after he threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Baby Lakers to 2-1 in the best-of-5 3L R Championship.
With two out in the bottom of the first, Jason Wilson barreled up a changeup from Alfredo Molina. The result was a 2-run home run, putting the Baby Lakers in front, 3-0.
Greenport manager Austin Brown said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow at Field of the Browns in Compton. The scheduled starters for the game are Nicolaas Eland for the Greenport Harbor Whales and Urs Bilderbeek for the the Bompton Baby Lakers.
