The 19-year-old rookie on the mound turned out to be the least of the Hicksville Hounds' worries.

Giving a high-pressure playoff start to youngster Bob Larsen seemed like a risky move for the Hounds, but it was one of the few things that went right at Hound Pound today. Larsen tossed 5.1 solid innings and took player of the game honors, but the award was received in defeat after Hicksville dropped a 2-1 decision. With the win, Hudsonville took a 3-0 lead in the best-of-5 PL R Championchip.

It could have been a different outcome for Hudsonville, had it not been for Yosuke Konishi, the 20-year old center fielder . Konishi contributed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put Hudsonville up, 2-0.

"We haven't stopped playing," Hicksville manager Wilber Moon said. "We didn't get this far to give up."
