Ortega, Flanderses Take Dramatic Game 2 for 2-0 Series Lead
The Hudsonville Flanderses moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Hicksville Hounds 1-0 in a low-scoring, extra-inning affair at Hudsonville Park. Leading the way for the Flanderses was right-hander Claudio Ortega, who was named player of the game after he threw 6 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Flanderses a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 PL R Championchip.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Patrick Goodhardt came to bat in the bottom of the 12th. Facing Hicksville pitcher Vratislav Sedlaczek, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Hudsonville on top, 1-0.

"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Goodhardt.

The next game is set to be played Tuesday at Hound Pound. The scheduled starters for the game are Carlos Pagán for Hudsonville and Carlos Medina for Hicksville.
