South Beach Wins at Home to Take 1-0 Lead in R1
|
The South Beach Blaze faced a tough opponent in Cut Off Crawdads designated hitter Dustin Damitz, but did just enough to pull out a win in Game 1 of the PL A Championship, which they now lead 1-0. The Blaze won 4-2 at The Ballpark on the Beach, despite the efforts of Damitz, who went 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and was named player of the game.
In the bottom of the first, South Beach third baseman Marcos Villanueva had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out, Villanueva stroked a 2-run double to center. It made the score 4-0, South Beach. For the game, he went 2-3 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI.
Villanueva called the win "a collective effort."
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow in South Beach. The scheduled starters for the game are Mike Bennett for Cut Off and Jong-beom Kung for South Beach.
