Almost There: Charleston On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 3-2 Win
|
The Charleston Battery moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Montana Pandas at Charleston Armory by a score of 3-2. Battery right-hander Miguel Angel Martínez was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Battery a - advantage in the best-of- Round 1.
Datu Lesaca, who finished 5th in the PL in triples with 6 in 2036, aided the Charleston cause with a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the second baseman was 1 for 4 with a triple.
"Every team in baseball loses," Pandas manager Andrew Schupick said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
