Big Day by Nelson Ignites Oaks Win
Oakland first baseman Cecil Nelson made his presence felt in the 11-5 Oaks triumph over the San Mateo Dirty Reds. Nelson went 3-4 with 3 doubles and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. The win was Paco Garza's in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Ignacio Ayala took the loss for San Mateo. With the win, the Oaks have a record of 27-33.

Oakland used the timely hitting of Yu-zeng Si to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Oaks ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Nelson told the Oakland Chronicle. "But we take nothing for granted."
