Almost There: Thunder Bay On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 5-2 Win
The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids on the road at Atlantica by a score of 5-2. Northern Lions BC second baseman Curf Pierstisnips was named player of the game after he went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win gives the Northern Lions BC a - advantage in the best-of- Silver League Championship.

It could have been a different outcome for Thunder Bay, had it not been for Sébastien Cornu, the 28-year old catcher . Cornu contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put Thunder Bay up, 3-0.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Pierstisnips.
