Almost There: Ft. Worth On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 3-2 Win
|
Game was big. So was Noe Toepfer.
The Ft. Worth starter rose to the occasion at Pacesetter Park today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Cattlemen to a crucial 3-2 victory over the Toledo Stingers. Toepfer threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball as the Cattlemen won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- Silver League Championship.
The result might have been different for Ft. Worth, had it not been for Derek Bangert. The designated hitter produced a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cattlemen ahead, 2-1. For the game, Bangert had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We haven't stopped playing," Toledo manager TJ Reynolds said. "We didn't get this far to give up."
