Almost There: New Orleans On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 11-9 Win
Philadelphia 1776 right fielder Bobby Butterfield pounded New Orleans Voodoo pitchers at Ben Franklin Memorial Coliseum, but it was not enough to keep the BC from falling, 11-9 in Game of the Round 1. Butterfield was 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 4 times and drove in 3 and was named player of the game for his efforts, even as he saw the BC slip into a - tie in the best-of- series.

New Orleans needed the clutch hitting of Jerry Yates to notch the win. The catcher hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Voodoo on top, 10-7. For the game, Yates had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.

"We're not going to sweep 'em," Yates said in response to a question after the game. "Philadelphia 1776 is too good not to take a game somewhere."
