The Ogres had to overcome a fine performance from Ithaca pitcher Alfredo Rodríguez to grab a 7-3 win at The Ogre Den. Rodríguez allowed 1 earned run over 5 innings. Olympia reliever Francisco Aragón picked up the win, upping his record to 3-4. Moriz Gaidamakin shouldered the loss. The losses continue to mount for Ithaca, which has now dropped 11 in a row.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the eighth inning when the Ogres sent teenager Lautaro Lacasa to the plate against Fighting Imps hurler Moriz Gaidamakin. With runners on 1st and 3rd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 1-1 fastball to score 1.
Lacasa called the win "a collective effort."
