Fighting Imps Bang Out 6-1 Win Versus Mercer Island
|
The Ithaca Fighting Imps downed the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 6-1, at Imps Park. The Fighting Imps were led by Mike Branch, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Ithaca is now 32-59. Mercer Island is 58-33.
Branch contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Ithaca in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Branch took a fastball from Adrik Mihalushkin and stroked the home run to left. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Fighting Imps to leap in front, 2-1.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Mercer Island manager Justin Saginov.
