Continentals Score Late, Upend Fighting Imps, 5-4
|
The Chesapeake Continentals defeated the Ithaca Fighting Imps, 5-4, at Chesapeake Grounds. Chesapeake right fielder Kevin Hancock was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Paul Workman picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-8. Alberto Cruz was tagged with the loss. Today's win puts Chesapeake at 43-46, while Ithaca falls to 31-58.
Jeff Washington was the walk-off hero for Chesapeake. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Continentals center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Hancock said.
