The Lake Minnetonka Love Boats beat the Springfield Shooters, 8-5, at Heron Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter Steve Murdock, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Carlos López earned the win to go to 3-7. He allowed 4 earned runs on 6 hits, with 5 walks and 4 strikeouts. Sean Jones closed the door for Lake Minnetonka, picking up his 17th save of the year.
Lake Minnetonka took a 7-4 lead on Murdock's 3rd triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which he hit off Mario Fuentes in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Lake Minnetonka to the win.
"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Murdock. "I think we showed that here."
The Love Boats now have a record of 41-30.
