|
Springfield right-hander Luis Sastre made an effective start against the Crescent City Krewe at Field of the Krewe, leading his team to a 5-0 win. Sastre, now 6-2, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs. This loss makes it 7 in a row for Crescent City.
Springfield used the timely hitting of Charles Ward to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put the Shooters on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Ward told a Springfield Chronicle reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
