Submarinos Defeat Beavers, 5-1
|
Colton Shepard did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Northwest Territory Beavers from losing, 5-1, to the Amarillo Submarinos at Terriers Ballpark. Shepard was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. Amarillo reliever Augusto Prats picked up the win, upping his record to 5-0. Aaron Rigsby absorbed the loss. Artie O'Neal, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.
Amarillo second baseman Mike Sackett staked his team to an early lead in the bottom of the second inning, when he grounded out, driving in 1 run with the bases loaded.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Sackett, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Amarillo now sits in 9th place in the Menard's R at 42-47.
