Harbor Whales Top Sea Dogs, 3-1
|
The Greenport Harbor Whales picked up a win at Ballpark of Robbins, knocking off the Maine Sea Dogs, 3-1. On the mound for Greenport was right-hander Nicolaas Eland, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 6 innings, Eland surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Vincent Higgins closed the door for Greenport, picking up his 8th save of the year.
In the bottom of the fifth, Greenport center fielder Kazuki Takahashi had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 3rd and two out, Takahashi stroked a run-scoring single to right-center. It made the score 2-1, Greenport. For the game, he was 1 for 4.
Afterward, Harbor Whales manager Austin Brown was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The Harbor Whales own a robust 53-29 mark.
