Trash Pandas Topple Rams with Late Rally
|
Watford City beat Ladue at Trash Panda Field, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to first baseman Kelvin Schmidt, who earned player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Tyler Gould picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-1. Dylan Mugglestone was tagged with the loss. Luke Corner was called on to finish, recording his 10th save.
Had Schmidt not come through in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Schmidt hit a 2-run home run. The Trash Pandas never looked back after taking the 4-3 lead.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Schmidt told the Watford City Bulletin.
Watford City is now 37-38, Ladue 36-39.
