Submarinos Walk Off with Win
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Amarillo Submarinos and the Northwest Territory Beavers, Cameron Shipp was the difference-maker. The Amarillo left-hander earned player of the game honors in the 2-1 win. Reliever Edward Swetnam picked up the win. His record improves to 2-4. Aaron Rigsby took the loss. Amarillo is 6th in the Menard's R with a record of 22-21.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Royce Coffman came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Northwest Territory pitcher Aaron Rigsby, he hit a full count cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Amarillo on top, 2-1.
"We'll savor this win," Shipp told the Amarillo Bulletin, "then get ready for the next game."
