The Beavers had to overcome a fine performance from Montgomery pitcher Orinosuke Oshiro to grab a 2-1 win at Field of the Sunchasers. Oshiro allowed 1 earned run over 9 innings. The Beavers raised their record to 53-38.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Roberto Berganza came to bat in the bottom of the 11th. Facing Montgomery pitcher Richard Tipton, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Ballard on top, 2-1.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Berganza.
