The Ballard Beavers got a stellar performance from pitcher Larry Carver, who handcuffed the Ogallala offense en route to a 6-2 win at Nebraska Aquarium. Carver got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. Carver allowed 2 earned runs. Ballard is 52-38 and Ogallala, with the loss, 40-50.

Ballard used the timely hitting of César Jiménez to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Beavers ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Carver told the Ballard Daily. "You win just by scoring more runs."
