Dirty Reds Losing Streak at 5 After Extra-Inning Loss to Cattlemen
|
The San Mateo Dirty Reds got a sterling performance from pitcher Michael Machen, but the Cattlemen still prevailed, 4-2. Machen was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Anthony Ledesma, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Pedro Valdéz got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Ft. Worth used the clutch hitting of Min-gook Ch'oe to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the 17th inning to put the Cattlemen ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Dean Ashley. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
The Dirty Reds, now 21-19, have lost 5 in a row.
