Tigers Get Close Win Over Warheads
|
The Amarillo Warheads got a sterling performance from pitcher Domingo Galló, but the Tigers still prevailed, 6-4. Galló was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Twinsburg reliever António del Pozo was credited with the win, to go to 2-1. Bobby Teune took the loss for Amarillo. Ellis Huntley sewed up the save, his 7th.
Had Jesús Muñíz not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Muñíz hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Tigers.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Twinsburg manager Morton Kelly.
The Tigers own a robust 54-31 mark.
