Snowpeople Stymie Ballard, Take 3-1 Win
|
In a tight battle between the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople and the Ballard Beavers, pitcher Marcos Lucero was in the zone. The Ellesmere Island left-hander was named the player of the game in Ellesmere Island's 3-1 win. In 5 innings, Lucero surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Aberto Gaddi finished the game for Ellesmere Island and earned his 3rd save.
The Beavers had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Snowpeople going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 18-year old shortstop Ramón Rodríguez came to the plate. Rodríguez hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 fastball from Ballard hurler Mercedes Bvan. It was Rodríguez's 2nd home run of the year.
