Mockingbirds Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The Mississippi Mockingbirds topped the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC by the score of 4-3, with the largest share of the credit going to left fielder Tural Bishara. Bishara went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles for the Mockingbirds. At 18-15, the Mockingbirds are currently third in the Silver League.
Mississippi used the timely hitting of Orlando Velásquez to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Mockingbirds on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In comments to the Mississippi Times, Velásquez admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
