Warheads Topple Cougars with Late Rally
The Valley View Cougars got a superb performance from pitcher Greg Ayala. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Amarillo. The Warheads won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Ayala was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. Even with the win, the Warheads have a dismal 12-25 record.

The result might have been different for Amarillo, had it not been for Ron Lott. The left fielder produced a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Warheads ahead, 3-2. For the game, Lott had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.

Lott expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
