Snowpeople Get One-Run Win at Ballard
|
The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Adam Wright, but it was good enough for the club to take a 4-3 decision over the Ballard Beavers. Wright, now 3-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 2 earned runs. Will Smiley picked up the save for Ellesmere Island, his 1st of the year.
Ellesmere Island used the clutch hitting of Marcos Janero to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Snowpeople the lead, 3-2. For the game, Janero had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Wright said (again).
The Snowpeople, now 6-13, have not found much traction so far in 2040.
