Cougars Stay Hot, Beat Fire
|
The Valley View Cougars extended their winning streak at Lawmen Ballpark.
The Valley View Cougars beat the Franklin Fire, 11-4, at Lawmen Ballpark. The Cougars got a fine performance from third baseman Justin Schock, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Carlos Oilvares got the win, improving to 3-1. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 11 and walking 2.
Valley View used the clutch hitting of Harley Lambert to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to give the Cougars the lead, 3-0. For the game, Lambert had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
In postgame comments to the Valley View News, Schock said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Cougars, now 10-5, have been on a roll in the early going.
