With designated hitter Walt Reed leading the charge, the Valley View Cougars defeated the Franklin Fire, 5-4, at Lawmen Ballpark. Reed, who is tied for 10th in the SR with a .434 on-base percentage, was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Roberto Morales in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Pedro Rodríguez took the loss. Losses have been few and far between for the Fire, who are now 10-4.

Valley View used the timely hitting of Miguel Rodríguez to capture the win. The right fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Cougars ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was an important one.

"This is a resilient bunch," said Valley View manager Francisco Villanueva.
