Tigers Fall to Cougars, 6-3
|
The Valley View Cougars defeated the Twinsburg Tigers, 6-3, in USSL Rookie action at Hillandale Grounds, with Valley View pitcher Greg Ayala named player of the game. Losses have been few and far between for the Tigers, who are now 8-1.
The Tigers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Cougars going into the bottom of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old center fielder Steve Wheeler came to the plate. Wheeler hit a run-scoring single on a 1-1 fastball from Twinsburg hurler José Cruz. It was Wheeler's 10th hit of the year.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Ayala.
