Redwood starter Xin-fang Zha pitched effectively against the Long Island Ducks at The Zoo. The right-hander led his team to a 4-2 win. Gyu-hyun Chong earned his 16th save in 18 tries. With the win, Redwood has a record of 52-42. Long Island falls to 54-40.

Had Roosevelt Cartledge not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Cartledge hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Rhinos.

"Xin-fang is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Redwood manager Frank Bass.
