The Redwood Rhinos trumped the Long Island Ducks, 9-1, at Ducks Park. Redwood first baseman Gustavo Palácios was named player of the game for his performance. He went 4 for 5 with 4 singles, while adding 3 RBI. José Torres, the winner, improved to 5-2. He held the Ducks to 1 earned run on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Arturo Sánchez got credit for the save for Redwood. It was his 1st of the year.
Adrián Serrano didn't waste any time giving his team the lead. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a run-scoring single to put Redwood on top, 1-0.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Serrano. "And not try to do too much."
The Rhinos saw their win-loss record go to 41-34. At the same time, the Ducks fell to 44-31.
