Hudsonville Park was the site of a tense game between the Hudsonville Flanderses and Fort Knox Centennial.
Fort Knox beat Hudsonville on the strength of starter Shan-tang Yang's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 3-1 win. Yang got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 10 hits and walked 0 over 7.2 innings. Yang allowed 1 earned run. Dan Smith, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
Fort Knox used the bat of Yee Ci to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Centennial ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Shan-tang's tempo and rhythm were good," said Centennial manager Jesús Román. "He was the key to us winning."
The 5th-place Centennial raised their record to 38-34.
