Rivera Helps Shockers Run Win Streak to 3
|
The Surprise Shockers topped the Crowley Cajuns, 8-2, with youngster Sergio Rivera playing a key role. Rivera was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Shockers in the win. Vicente Castro was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed no runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts. Tommy Tillman finished the game for Surprise and earned his 2nd save.
It could have been a different outcome for Surprise, had it not been for Ryan McLeod, the 18-year old center fielder . McLeod contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Surprise up, 1-0.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said McLeod.
The Shockers, at 31-37, sit in 8th place in the Premier R.
