Shockers Squelch Centennial Offense in Shutout Win
|
Surprise Shockers starter Jim Murray was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Fort Knox Centennial, 3-0. Murray, now 3-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing no earned runs. Surprise is 18-26 and Fort Knox, with the loss, 24-20.
Surprise used the timely hitting of Rodger Parsons to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put the Shockers on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
When asked about his performance after the game, Parsons said: "Like everyone else, I'm just doing my job."
