Centennial Subdue Surprise, 3-1
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Fort Knox Centennial and Surprise Shockers came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
Fort Knox Centennial starter Jeremiah Hartney was in fine form against the Surprise Shockers at Ballpark of Baxter, leading his team to a 3-1 win. Hartney, the winner, moves to 5-2. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up no walks.
Matabei Maeda hit a run-scoring triple off Coyote Peterson in the bottom of the third, which put the Centennial in front, 2-1. Maeda had 2 singles, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 3 for 4.
Maeda attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
The Centennial saw their win-loss record go to 24-19. At the same time, the Shockers fell to 17-26.
