Shockers Need Extra Frames to Get Past Ducks
|
The Surprise Shockers got a stellar effort from pitcher Jean Mercier, helping Surprise score a 3-2 win over the visiting Long Island Ducks. With the win, the Shockers improved to 10-21.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder George Lewis came to bat in the bottom of the 14th. Facing Long Island pitcher Álex Flores, he hit a 2-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Surprise on top, 3-2.
"This place was jumping at the end," Mercier said.
