Hot Start Continues for Flanderses
|
The Hudsonville Flanderses topped the Redwood Rhinos, 7-4, in USPL Rookie action at Hudsonville Park. The player of the game was Hudsonville pitcher and Puebla, Mexico native Augusto Alfonzo. The Flanderses, now 5-1, have hit the ground running this season.
Tied up with the Rhinos in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Flanderses got a boost from left fielder Tim Carson. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Carson saw a full count fastball from Gonzalo Rossi and hit a 2-run double to break the stalemate and put Hudsonville on top, 4-2.
In comments to the Hudsonville Gazette, Alfonzo admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
